What Is Internet Or Online Marketing And How Can It Help Me?

Internet marketing is the process of growing and promoting an organization using online media as well as the use of the Internet to advertise and sell products and services. By using internet marketing, you are creating your own targeted traffic that becomes leads. Internet marketing is by far the fastest growing advertising method for all companies in this day and age.

Internet marketing, also referred to as online marketing or E-marketing, is defined as the marketing of products or services over the Internet. As of 2007, internet marketing is growing faster than other types of media. This marketing strategy includes all aspects of online advertising products, services, and websites, including market research, email marketing, and direct sales. It does not simply mean 'building a website' or 'promoting a website'. Internet marketing is the process of growing and promoting an organization using online media. At first, internet marketing was special because you needed a specialist to do it. However, in these days you shouldn't need a specialist to do this type of work.

Buts let break down internet marketing into its fundamental pieces. First, is the marketing aspect of internet marketing. Marketing your business on the web has become a complicated process of methods requiring research, analysis, planning strategy and simultaneous execution. It is a complex skill with many different tactics and approaches. Marketing experts are still trying to figure out all of the technical aspects of the internet and it will take a few more years until fixed models are established. In many ways though marketing on the internet is not science; as with all marketing, it's an art. The interactive nature of Internet marketing, both in terms of instant response, and in eliciting a response, are unique qualities of the medium. The Internet as a whole has brought many unique benefits to marketing including low costs in distributing information and media to a global audience.

Although internet marketing is more involved than just having a functioning website, website optimization and website promotion is the premier solution to your internet marketing requirement. Website development, managed website hosting, database and data collection methods, and managing how your information technology interacts with your internet presence or storefront are major components of an integrated marketing strategy. Website design services apply function and style to your internet presence. That presence needs to show that somewhere behind that website is a real organization with real goals. Internet marketing strategies include all aspects of online advertising products, services, and websites, including market research, email marketing, and direct sales.

At one time, Internet marketing consisted mostly of having a website or placing banner ads on other websites. Components of internet marketing (also referred to as online marketing) may include: A website, consisting of text, images and possibly audio and video elements used to convey the company's message, to inform existing and potential customers of the features and benefits of the company's products and/or services.

Without traffic to your website, your business can't make any money. This is known as getting traffic and it is becoming harder and harder to do because the number of competitors you have is growing everyday. Internet marketing is about creating your own targeted traffic that becomes leads. That means you can converse with your users, and select traffic rather than accumulate it. When you use cost per click for your internet marketing you will find that you do at least get quality traffic to your website but the downside is that you will have spent a small fortune getting the traffic. All of these internet marketing considerations should be carefully considered before tactical website design, marketing, or traffic-generation tasks begin: Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (PPC), running an analytics project, interested in e-Mail as an advertising medium, and interested in traffic through branding activities. Branding is basically other activities that do generate traffic, but are also building awareness of your products and services. We know that ALL areas of internet marketing are very challenging and that there will come a time when you need expert services to beat your competition in the traffic wars.

Internet marketing is not a one-shot deal. Although it is easy, it isn't an overnight proposition; it could be weeks, months or years of internet marketing before your Web site becomes viable. Internet marketing is a method that is growing bigger and bigger everyday and is a business imperative because the internet is an irrevocable and unstoppable trend. Internet marketing is a field that is not only about knowledge and experience, but also about imagination. If your small business is using internet marketing, great, don't stop and make sure to periodically review your efforts and modify to get the most amount of traffic as possible. If you are a business owner and not using internet marketing yet, if you want to stay in business, you'd better hop on the internet superhighway and fast before your competition passes you by.

Simple Tips for Successful Online Marketing

So you finally started that online business you've been dreaming of and the new Website you've put so much work into has been live for quite some time now. You know it's a great site because you had several smart, objective people analyze it and tell you so. You dotted all your I's and crossed all your T's. You've worked diligently to make sure that your Website's overall theme and content communicates the right message and establishes rapport with your potential customers.

However, you continue to check your Website statistics daily, but keep wondering where your visitors are? The problem is not your Website; it's your lack of marketing.

At this point you are probably feeling pretty frustrated and realize that you need to do a little soul searching as well as some cost-effective marketing. But in which direction do you turn? There is so much information available and everyone claims they have the perfect solution to your online marketing dilemma. What's a new online business owner to do?

Hold onto your hat! Before you start spending boo coo bucks on high priced advertising or SEO (search engine optimization) gimmicks, there are a few things you can do to boost your Website traffic and increase online sales that require very little or no money at all and are extremely effective:

Article Marketing: Maybe you've heard about article marketing or perhaps you haven't. If the later applies, the concept is simple. Write some quality articles in your field of expertise and submit them to article directories. What do you know that they don't? What information would your potential customers really appreciate and find extremely helpful or useful? Writing articles should be a snap since you already have a good knowledge base about the products or services you currently sell.

Some Advantages of Article Marketing Include:

1. Free and endless incoming links - For every article that is submitted, approved and placed within an article directory you automatically get a free link. And as you have probably heard, the more quality links (including relative content) you have pointing to your Website, the higher your search engine rankings will be on the likes of Google, Yahoo, etc. Another benefit, and probably one of the most important aspects of article marketing is that publishers of other Websites will find your articles in these directories and place them on their Websites. In turn, this will create even more incoming links on relative content to your site.
2. Establish Credibility within your field of expertise. This is probably the most important aspect of article marketing. By establishing credibility within your field, you are proving to the online world that you are capable of successfully delivering your product or service. People will appreciate and respect that you have built your business on a foundation of knowledge and expertise. You see, every time they read one of your articles, they are reading about the knowledge, skills, and expertise that you bring to the table.
3. R.O.I. - Article marketing also has a great return on investment. You can simply write one article, and with just one article, have hundreds of quality links pointing to your new site. Another great advantage of article marketing is that the articles keep working for you. Even though you may have forgotten about them, they have not forgotten about you. Years down the line you will continue to spot your articles in various Websites and e-zines almost unexpectedly. Talk about quality ROI! Just a little bit of a time investment can lead to endless Website traffic and prestigious credibility within your area of expertise.

How do you find these article directories?: Simply query Google with a search string such as e-zine articles, article directories, submit articles", etc. and you are sure to come up with many of the main article directories like Search Warp.com, EzineArticles.com, Articles Base.com Article Dashboard.com, etc.

Join a FREE Online Networking Site: You may have heard of sites such as Ryze, My Space, Linked In, etc. These Websites are not just for social networking, but serve as a powerful business marketing tool you can use to gain customers, referrals and enhance your credibility in your field of expertise.

Some Advantages of Online Networking include:

1. B to B Relationship Building - The main goal of successful business networking is to create positive, lasting relationships with other like-minded business professionals - online networking sites such as Ryze, My Space and Linked In, provide the right atmosphere and tools for targeting and establishing successful business relationships.
2. Word of Mouth/Viral Marketing - Upon harnessing these important B to B relationships, you have access to other powerful marketing tools such as word of mouth/viral marketing. Leaders and followers alike of these networking forums are excellent brand evangelists and will readily "spread the word" about your company's great products and services.
3. Free Market Research - That's right! I did say free yet again. As an online networking participant, you will have access to free market research. You will have the ability to listen to what others are saying about your company's products and services or similar products and services within your industry. This gives you the unprecedented ability to monitor your company's products and services in relation to the ever-changing marketplace. Talk about smart and cost-effective marketing!
4. Joint Venture Opportunities - Online business networks create the ideal platform for joint venture partnerships to thrive. Simply find other like-minded business professionals in your network to partner with. You can start by exchanging coupons for goods or services and then move on to bundling your products or services with another company's products or services. The possibilities are endless and your Website statistics will be too.
And last but not least, place Free Advertisements on other Websites. There are many sites which offer free quality advertising such as Where2Go.com, Biz Hwy.com, listings.local.yahoo.com, etc. Taking advantage of free advertising can prove to be an effective way to reach your target market as well as provide more incoming links to your Website; many of these online business directories will allow you to place a link to your Website at no extra cost. Simply query Google with a simple search string such as "free business listings, free business advertising, free classifieds", etc to get started.

So what are you waiting for? End the frustration. You know what to do now. Now that you've got a great company Website in place, it's time to put into practice these successful online marketing tips that are sure to generate hits to your site, increase your sales and bring a smile to your face.

Nowadays, tight competitions are so evident in every industry; so an effective online marketing strategy will facilitate you to have an affirmative impact to your company's upshot.

Growing Your Business With Online Marketing

As a business owner, you know that one of the keys to a successful year is promoting your business. No matter what size your business is, marketing and promotion need to be addressed. Marketing has become a daunting task with the increasing number of online start-up businesses. And now, along with the traditional offline marketing methods, there are many online marketing tools and methods available.

Online Marketing is also known as Internet Advertising, web marketing, web advertising or e-marketing.

There are many benefits to marketing your business online. Here are a few.

Lowering Your Costs

A recent eMarketer article sites that "in the wake of the global economic downturn, marketers worldwide are shifting more of their budgets into cheaper, more-measurable categories. In most cases, that means online."

Your marketing budget is only so big and online marketing can stretch it even farther for you. TV and radio spots are expensive, printing costs for corporate and product brochures are expensive and traditional mailings cost not only in materials and postage, but deplete the environment as well. Why not direct potential customers to your website for information on products and services? Your website is your brochure, a marketing tool available 24 hours a day to prospective customers. Your revenue potential will increase while your costs diminish.

Offline marketing ads for newspapers, TV and radio are for a limited time and you pay for the time slot and space. In online marketing, your ads potentially can stay up longer and over time you end up paying less. Using article marketing, you could either write an article yourself or pay someone else to write it. When that article is distributed online, it stays on the Internet for many years. For a small cost, you've placed a marketing proposition that stays around indefinitely pointing potential customers to your website and your products and services.

Compared to traditional marketing or telemarketing, email marketing costs very little. These targeted messages will go directly into the homes and offices of your potential or existing customers.

Reaching a Larger Market and a Targeted Market

The Internet allows people from all over the world to do business with each other.

From another recent eMarketer article, in 2009, more than 65% of Americans are Internet users. They're not only checking e-mail and Twittering, they are shopping for products and services.

With traditional media, your ads are restricted to a specific location for a limited time. When you promote your business online, you reach a larger audience than you would ever be able to reach otherwise since your marketing activity is not restricted by location. More potential customers always equal more sales opportunities.

Online marketing allows you to target specific demographics such as age, location, gender and income levels and in many cases allows you to track the behaviors of these groups as they interact with your online marketing.

It can also bring a branding campaign to life in a new way. This unique consumer interaction with your brand can leverage emotional links to your brand. Instead of a brand talking to a customer, your customer can interact with and experience your brand. This is intelligent brand marketing. You can influence people at the perfect time - their time, right when they are looking for information, comparison shopping and possibly buying.

Flexibility and Tangible Tracking

Online marketing can include email, newsletters, blogs, microblogs, podcasts, video and social media sites. All of these outlets have the ability to be flexible. An ad placed in a magazine or newspaper can't be changed until the next submission. With online marketing you'll know very quickly if a campaign is working and you can change wording or graphics and adapt product information to match changing market conditions.

The Internet also removes any guesswork from measuring campaign results. Using web analytics you can measure the number of visitors that a campaign brings to your website, how long they stay and the average number of pages they visit. This important information along with the flexibility, allows you to improve the conversion of your campaign and to increase your return on investment.

Instant Conversion Ability

Online marketing allows you to convert a shopper to a customer instantly. A potential customer reading a traditional newspaper ad does not have the ability to click a mouse and buy your product or service immediately. Offline marketing involves more time and money to convert a shopper into a sale.

Online ads allow direct response. Consumers can click to learn more about a product, sign up for a newsletter or RSS feed, or buy right then and there. This will in turn create a database for you, which, with email marketing, will allow you to reach people who have already expressed an interest in your product or service. And online marketing allows you to sell to anyone, anywhere and at any time. You're not restricted by time, geography and location considerations.

Internet marketing includes strategies such as search engine optimization (SEO), pay per click marketing (PPC), article marketing, blog marketing, online brandcasting, social media marketing and many more interactive marketing services.

While these strategies may seem daunting at first, with a little research, you can use some of these tools to help you optimize your website and increase web traffic. Or, if you have it in your budget, there are companies that specialize in many SEO services.

There are many benefits to both online and offline marketing. A mix of the two might be just what your business needs to grow.

Online Marketing - Don't Forget the Small Things

In the ever changing and demanding world of online marketing and e-commerce, general website maintenance is often overshadowed by big buck industry terms such as Search Engine Optimization and Pay Per Click. While these are proven strategies to increase site traffic and conversion, online marketers all to often wear blinders when it comes to their day-to-day marketing strategies. Here are some important website maintenance pointers to keep in mind when developing your online marketing strategy. Remember this is not an exhausted list rather a guide to help you increase your sites performance.

Stay on top of it - You can bet that your competitors are. From tags to copy, from images to keywords, it is always important to keep your website updated. Keep in mind that it is not just your industry that is changing. Search engines are getting smarter, new forms of marketing avenues are arising and the consumer is becoming more e-savvy. Properly maintaining a website is a full time job that never ends. If I had one area to focus my attention, it would be always having current copy. This will not only assure that your site stays current with consumers trends and changes in the industry, but it will also support your search engine optimization initiatives. Search engines respond well to relevant and fresh copy that relate to your chosen keywords. Adding new content will ensure that your site ranks high and that the bots return more often. Testing is also a good way to make sure you are staying on top of your consumer's needs and wants. Your homepage is a great place to start. You have less than eight seconds to present the information the consumer is looking for in a way that is appealing to them or you will see less than ideal conversions. Your website should be treated like a car. You just fill it with gas and it will only run so long but with regular maintenance and some care, you will ensure that it will be a well oiled machine for years to come.

Don't give up on traditional marketing - Is online marketing a cost effective form of marketing? Of course it is, however it can be less effective if traditional forms of marketing are ignored or discarded. Traditional marketing helps make your online marketing spend as productive as possible. Let's compare it to search engine optimization (SEO) and sponsored search (PPC). Company #1 spends a great deal of time and money optimizing their site for search engines and spends a great deal per month making sure they are always in the first spot for paid search. They are seeing good lead volume for the cost and decide to cut all traditional marketing and just stick to online marketing thinking this will help keep costs down. Firm #2 takes a similar approach but decides to restrict its online marketing spend by ranking in the second or third spot on sponsored search and puts the additional funds towards traditional marketing. Now this raises an interesting question. As a consumer, you are doing a search and see both Firm #1 and Firm #2 rank highly in natural search and Firm #1 is doing a bit better in sponsored search. What happens next is the key to the point that I am making. Your odds of winning that consumers click are much better for Firm #2 because the consumer is already familiar with that brand through traditional marketing. The key is to find the most appropriate balance between your online spend and traditional marketing spend to help insure that you are getting the most out of every marketing dollar.

Find new ways to promote - The effectiveness of your site is based solely on your ability to drive quality visitors to your site and make them convert. We all know this. What we don't realize is that often times our promotional efforts may not directly create conversions. They do however; promote other areas of online marketing such as brand awareness and brand credibility. What is even more striking is that often times your current marketing materials can be leveraged to create more awareness. For example your company sells electronics. As a creative online marketer, you could take that five-minute tutorial about how your product works and post it to YouTube, Yahoo Movies or Google Video. Is this going to increase your conversions by 20 percent? Probably not, what it will do is help gain exposure, create another inbound link for your search engine optimization efforts and most importantly gain awareness for your product and company. Another great tactic is leveraging your sites current content by publishing the content to article databases such as selfgrowth.com. By setting your company apart as an industry expert you gain not only exposure but brand credibility which will pay dividends in terms of conversion. What is so great about leveraging your existing marketing materials is that it is often free. It only costs you and your company time to publish content or posting a movie.

Be patient - Due to the incredible pressure of result driven management, online marketers often do not have the patience to allow their efforts to come to fruition. Let's take for example this scenario. You have just spent four months choosing the correct keywords, optimizing your site for those keywords and just wrapped up another month of online promotion. Now what? Do I just sit and wait? The answer is yes and no. Keep monitoring your sites performance in the search engines and keep promoting your site and updating the freshness of your content. Do not scrap your strategy on the gut feeling that you are not seeing results quickly enough. Improvements in site rankings often take several months as the spiders return, crawl the new content and re-index your site. The key is to continuously make improvements to your site while being patient enough to see the results of your work, time and money.

Remember that online marketing is not just a science; it is an art. Often the sites that get the most attention do not get that way because they spend millions on promotion. They find new and creative ways to drive traffic and convert leads. Stay on top of your website and how it relates to consumers wants and needs. Optimize your traditional and online marketing spend, learn how to leverage current marketing assets and finally be patient. If the basics are covered, the sky is the limit and who knows maybe your site or product will be the next big thing.

Online Marketing Vs Traditional Marketing

Statistics Prove beyond a Doubt as to Who the Winner is!

The internet revolution has truly changed how business is conducted all over the world. The business world is captivated by the powers and the prospects the World Wide Web offers. Online marketing through the internet has become the preferred mode of increasing consumer awareness of their products and services of a significant number of companies the world over. Traditional media marketing done through television, cinema and print medium has taken a back seat to online marketing. Statistics on recent trends indicate a paradigm shift in the choices of business owners, marketing managers and executive assistants to use online marketing as their prime marketing stratagem. However, there are a few skeptics who doubt the clout the internet holds vis-à-vis online marketing and a debate rages on the question of which is better and which mode offers faster and better results. My knowledge, wisdom and experience as a man involved in online marketing strategies for quite a number of years makes me vouch for the superiority of online marketing over traditional media marketing. I will present some statistics to justify my preference for online marketing, not as a proof of my knowledge and business acumen but to put forward an unbiased opinion for the sake of the readers.

- According to one recent survey done by a popular and respected research organization, about 72% of the American population own computers and have access to the internet. About 28% of the world population has access to the internet. The figures are likely to increase in numbers rapidly. This validates the thrust and reach of online marketing.

- The internet is the preferred medium at work and the second preferred at home to the majority of the American population. Americans spend 14 hours per week watching television and 14 hours per week online. ( Google Statistics) Nothing can illustrate better the potential reach of online marketing.

- The average consumer is more aware than ever before. He or she is well informed about products and services that they intend to purchase. The average consumer does not wait for the marketing companies to reach them and instead go after their choices based on information sourced from the internet. ( Wikipedia )

- 11 research firms predicted that online ad spending will grow at the rate of 12 to 19.4 percent in the year 2009 (eMarketer).

- A study done in May 2008 revealed that 72% of marketers said their online marketing budgets will increase or remain the same even during recession (Forrester Research).

- Online marketing is one of the "recession proof corners" (New York Times).

Now that the potential and reach of online marketing has been established, let me proceed to illustrate how online marketing ranks over traditional media marketing in many ways. There are three vital factors that make online marketing a more sensible choice when it comes to cutting costs and increasing profits. They are cost, proof of reach and conversion rate.

Given that all businesses are in the game to make more money, the costs involved in creating/implementing traditional television and print media marketing campaigns does not make any sense at all in terms if returns when compared to the benefits of employing online marketing strategies. To start an online marketing program, all one has to do is develop a website with content that is enriched with keywords that attract prospective customer traffic to your website at a far less price than running expensive traditional media campaigns. More traffic results in more business and it is the job of the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) /online marketing /Web development companies to provide your website with all the things needed to bring more visitors to it. Good online marketing strategists know the importance of competition analysis, keyword research, and providing content that will be instantly visible to the algorithmic combinations of a typical search process. The knowledge of how to entice potential customers to reach your website comes with years of experience and market research. If you already have a website and still do not find the expected amount of potential customers visiting your site, a good SEO/Online marketing company will do a free evaluation of your website to recommend any changes needed.

The second factor is the actual reach of a marketing campaign. In traditional media marketing, a business owner will not have any idea of how many potential customers he or she is actually reaching. For example, if there are about 30,000 readers of a particular magazine or newspaper, how will anybody know as to how many percent of the actual readers have noticed your marketing promo? Truth is there is no way of knowing it. In online marketing, powerful web analytics keep track of the traffic to your website based on which you can calculate conversion figures and make suitable changes in the content or strategy to boost sales.

The third factor is conversion. One of the main differences between traditional media marketing and online marketing is the way in which customers make a choice. In the former, a campaign is addressed to a general audience, looking for potential customers while in the latter it is the customer who is coming to you. He or she already knows what he or she is looking for and it thus makes it easier to convert the visitor to a customer.

Good web development companies, SEO and online marketing companies are experts in the way a potential customer searches and makes choices on the internet. This knowledge helps them in making needed changes to a website to help the website generate more traffic and thereby more business.

All the facts stated above and especially the fact that online marketing is still growing even during these hard recession times should convince even the die hard skeptic. The smart marketing manager or business owner is taking action now, because it is their survival that may be on the line and a professional online marketing company will be worth their weight in gold.

Online Marketing Business Opportunity – The Pure System

Have you ever been involved in an online marketing business opportunity that provided more headaches and near strokes due to all the money you lost from investing in this business?

Well, if so, welcome to the 97% of individuals who tried to launch a successful online marketing business opportunity, but with no avail. This constant failure has deceived many potential marketers into believing that internet marketing is no plausible way to make a decent living online.

One of the top questions I get from my subscribers is “How do I find an online marketing business opportunity that is proven to work?”

Well, before I answer that question, let me just share some info about myself.

Over 3 years ago, I became a failure at every online marketing business opportunity that I ventured into. I literally lost thousands of dollars due to terrible marketing and business decisions. I had so many failures, that I vowed to never venture into an online marketing business opportunity again.

Even though I made the vow, I still felt the pull and desire to discover more about this online marketing business. My inner conscience was telling me not to give up yet, while my pocket book told me to wrap it up and end this pursuit for good.

But I decided to listen to my conscience and see what I can find.

From my research and tests, I came up with 3 mandatory requirements that every online marketing business opportunity must have in order to guarantee solid success.

1. Must Provide a Proven Business Model

The online marketing business opportunity that you decide to participate in must provide an internet marketing business model that is guaranteed to place money in your pocket if you decide to put in the work. The business opportunity must have a model that makes it impossible for you to fail.

There are only a few online marketing business models that are known to provide solid income if you put forth the effort. Here is a short list of some of them:

- Building 100’s of content websites with google adsense

- Building SEO websites

- Creating your own information product and starting an affiliate program

- Collecting subscribers in a specific niche(email list)

- Starting a blog and making frequent posts

At least one of the business models above must be included in any online marketing business opportunity that you decide to pursue. Just applying one of the online marketing business models above will save you from a lot of heart ache and frustration.

2. Must Provide You Your Own Internet Asset

The great thing about the list of online marketing business opportunity models above is that they each provide you with a marketing asset that you personally own. A good online marketing business opportunity will give you 100% control of everything. For example, if you decide to tackle the model of building an email list within a particular niche, the database of subscribers are fully owned by you and you can do whatever you want with the database in order to make huge profits. You can sell and market over and over again to your list with affiliate programs. Or, you can sell your email list database to another party and earn tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars just from one transaction.

The list building online marketing business opportunity is the best in my opinion because of the enormous leverage and marketing power that you can create. If you want to learn more about this list building model via free online video tutorials, then just visit the resource below.

3. Must Provide Mentorship

Any online marketing business opportunity that you decide to venture into must at least provide a program where you can receive mentorship either for free, or for a small fee. It is near impossible to secure true online marketing success without having a mentor who can show you the ropes and prevent you from making crucial mistakes. For example, if you are interested in building adsense content sites, you should either find a thriving adsense publisher who is willing to help you out, or join a network of adsense publishers that can provide the help you need in order to see gradual improvements in your business. A good thing to do is find out if there is a forum in your particular online marketing business opportunity. If not, then stay away from this business opportunity because you need as much help as you can get in this ever evolving world called the internet.

So I hope the 3 mandatory requirements helped you to determine which businesses to pursue, and which ones to run away from. Looking for these 3 requirements in every online marketing business opportunity will save you a lot of money. Just save your money, and apply at least one of the proven business models I mentioned above.
